Indescribable Happiness by Alivia Grace

Is when you walk into a room and you see everyone dancing, laughing, and having a good time. It’s that moment when you realize that your vision, your dream has been awakened. It’s so alive that others are here celebrating with you, but it’s not just a feeling, it’s a lifestyle.

In 2013 VäKú came to life in New Orleans, La, when friends got together and combined their ingenuity to inspire, give back to their community and spread love through art. They fused Vä meaning“vacation” and Kú meaning “chaotic” “crazy,” and VäKú was born.

What started as a simple phrase, quickly became a lifestyle brand.

VäKú hosted its first event in Dallas on Saturday, May 25, 2019, “Where Memories are Made”, in Deep Ellum, on a rooftop overlooking the entire city. The ride to the top was not without flaw, the elevator broke down and all of the guests were forced to walk up a couple of flights of stairs, but that did not stop the good energy that was flowing throughout the night. With DJ Rooty Red, a Chicago native, who relocated to Dallas, playing hot mixes all night and Simply Phillip Brown, a local caterer in Dallas, keeping the guest satisfied with foods made with lots of love and lots of flavors. It was truly a night where memories were made.

The VAKU

The hosts, Britney, and Courtney from The Indenial Hoe Show filled the room with enthusiasm as they kept the crowd engaged. They introduced local performances from artists such as Maya Fiya and three Louisiana natives, Qwee and Allay Earhart, Hip Hop artist from New Orleans and Sahara a singer also from Louisiana.

Mixologist, Shantee Mimm, collaborated with VäKú, to create its first cocktail, The VäKú, mixed with a hint of Bacardi and a whole lot of indescribable happiness.

When I think of a brand, the first thing that comes to mind is what merchandise they are selling. Then I think of the message that they are trying to convey to the public. On many occasions, the mission of a brand is not always clear; the actions are not always aligned with the vision. When I think of indescribable happiness, I think of VäKú; I feel an abundant amount of euphoria.

VäKú not only represents love, peace, and happiness but it also represents New Orleans, a city that is filled with art that speaks volumes through music, a passion for the community and an undying thirst to live crazy out loud.

When does a brand become a lifestyle? When you can go anywhere and make it a, Vä, “Vacation”, and have a, Kú, “crazy”, good time.
